I wanted to recommend another one of our favorite children's books, "Dig Dig Digging" by Margaret Mayo. It is made up of simple rhymes that introduce various large vehicles such as dump trucks, fire engines and bulldozers! The text flows well and the colorful illustrations are perfect!
Here's an excerpt:
"Cranes are good at lift, lift lifting.
Up go the bricks to the top of the building.
Down come the pipes, very slowly spinning.
They can work all day."
My favorite part is the last page when all the trucks go to sleep. "No beep-beeping, no vroom-vrooming. Shhh! They can rest all night!"
Any little boy who is into things that GO (aren't they all?) will adore this book. My son and I both had it memorized when he was 2 or 3 because we read it so often!
