Here something that might be fun...

I read about this great idea yesterday regarding children's response to literature. A mother began reading classic literature to her school age children and they were surprised that they could not find the main characters in action figures, puzzles, dolls, coloring books, or anything really in the stores. So the mother bought some felt and they learned how to make gingerbread type blank dolls and stuff them. Then the children made costumes to go with the characters. The mother reported one of her children's favorite dolls was Alexander the Great and the other child loved his Julius Caesar doll. She taught them how to stuff the dolls and stitch around them and now they make their own dolls independently. The more they made, the more elaborate they became. It sounded good to me!
