Book for February...

Hello, everyone!

The book I have chosen for February is by Terry Ryan called "The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio: How My Mother Raised 10 Kids on 25 Words or Less"--LONG title, huh? Anyone heard of it? Any objections?

This memoir that takes place in the 1950s is about how the author's mother, Evelyn Ryan, used her creativity and determination to support her large family. She won money and useful prizes by entering writing contests for commerical jingles and slogans.

The book has good reviews and has also been made into a movie. I hope everyone is able to find a copy and start reading for our end of the month discussion.
