You Can't Take a Balloon into the Metropolitan Museum of Art

There are no words in this all picture book; just comic-strip-like pictures that lay out the story and encourage pre-readers to "read" this book to a grown-up. A young girl and her art-conscience grandmother walk up the steps of the Met only to be told by the security guard that they cannot take the girl's yellow balloon into the museum. They tie it to the hand rail outside to be watched by the guard, but a pesky pigeon unties the balloon and it flies away. The security guard has to chase it around the city, picking up new balloon chasers as they go along, until they make it back just in time to return the balloon to the little girl. It is visually fun, a great introduction to the fine art in the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the landmarks in New York City, and a silly "story" that my kids find SO funny! There are at least two other books in this series by sister-team Jacqueline Preiss Weitzman and Robin Preiss Glasser.
